Kappo Yoshiba is situated in Ryogoku, close to Kokugikan sumo stadium. The restaurant’s specialty is chanko, or sumo wrestlers’ stew. The entire second floor can be booked out, encompassing a series of five connecting rooms. The restaurant used to be a sumo stable, and the dohyo, or sumo-ring, still lies in the center of the restaurant, giving a “ring-side” atmosphere. Seats around the dohyo require prior reservation. Three times a week various cultural performances are given.
