30 Sep 2010 / NEWS

Haneda Airport, situated 20 minutes from the center of Tokyo has until now been used mainly for domestic flights. Following the completion of the fourth runway, however, in October 2010 the airport will be opened to international scheduled flights. As of September 1, 2010, direct international flights linking to more than 15 cities worldwide are planned.

From the United States there are four new direct routes planned, linking Haneda with New York, Los Angeles, Detroit and Honolulu. For intra-Asian flights, in addition to existing routes to Beijing, Shanghai, Seoul and Hong Kong, additional routes to Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia are also scheduled to start. Furthermore, from Europe there are plans for flights linking to major cities in France, the UK, Germany and the Netherlands.

The number of international routes is expected to increase in the future. With Haneda Airport offering access to the city center in only 20 minutes, the expansion of international flights makes Tokyo even more convenient for MICE participants from overseas.

New international flight service information as of Oct. 1.
