Intelligent Transport System (ITS) is a revolutionary traffic system that processes information about people, roads and vehicles using the very latest IT for the purpose of reducing accidents and eliminating traffic congestion. It has been decided that the 2013 ITS World Congress will be held in Tokyo. This will be the third time for Japan to host the ITS World Congress, following the second meeting held in 1995 in Yokohama, and the 11th meeting held in 2004 in Nagoya, Aichi. The most recent meeting was held in New York in 2008, attracting approximately 8, 000 participants. Given Tokyo's status as host city, representatives of city authorities will participate in the preparatory committee and Japan organization committee leading to the event.
