New website showcasing specially selected Tokyo Unique Venues
This March Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) launched a new website to promote the most relevant new information about unique venues in Tokyo to the people who need it most – MICE organizers, meeting planners and other MICE industry professionals. The 57 facilities listed include places as diverse as art museums, shrines and temples, metropolitan facilities and theme parks.

Three new programs showcasing the particular charms of Tokyo
TCVB offers familiarization trips and support when hosting events for organizers of corporate meetings and incentive trips to Tokyo. Three new programs have been added this year alone, beginning with a textile dying experience showcasing local Tokyo Dyeing traditions. With over 100 years of history, participants can learn about the working processes of the craftsmen who make dyed Tokyo fabrics. The varieties of giveaway items have also been increased, making the service offered by TCVB more comprehensive than ever.

Tokyo Big Sight South Exhibition Halls to open in July
On July 1st, a new permanent exhibition hall facility will open at Tokyo Big Sight, the largest exhibition center in Japan. The new South Exhibition Hall building is a two‐layer structure with two 5,000sqm exhibition halls, located on its first and fourth floors. A pedestrian walkway, called the “Sea Walk”, connects the new facility with the existing ones, with a sea-facing view that is sure to delight visitors on their way between halls.

Eko-in Temple, a Sacred Site in the World of Sumo, Welcomes MICE Events
The famous temple Eko-in has long been associated with sumo, a form of traditional Japanese wrestling. During the Edo period, large crowds frequently gathered at Eko-in Temple to watch the sumo matches held there. The temple is also home to monuments to past sumo wrestlers, and to this day remains a sacred place for sumo wrestlers, who visit to pray for strength before bouts.

The 2018 ICCA Statistics Report announced in May that Tokyo, where one hundred and twenty three international meetings were held in 2018, has jumped up from being ranked 18th to 13th worldwide.
