This establishment dates back to 1880 and serves traditional sukiyaki made from thinly sliced beef. The red-brick building to the left of the famous Kaminari-mon Gate in Asakusa is Chin-ya, the architecture itself echoing the restaurant's beginnings in the 19th century. For more than 100 years since its establishment the restaurant has guarded its tradition of serving the beef of Japanese Black Cattle in a slightly sweet sauce. The restaurant interior is mainly composed of tatami rooms, and a hall and party room provide the ideal venue for large groups. The private rooms can be converted for Western-style dining, with customers being requested to take their shoes off, Japanese-style, before entering.
