Tokyo Supports ASP-DAC 2021 with Dedicated Digital Content

For many years, Business Events Tokyo (BET) has had the privilege to support large-scale international conferences and its participants by offering city tours, Japanese cultural programs, and entertainment programs during the events held in Tokyo. However, due to COVID-19, many conferences have shifted from in-person to online or hybrid events. To support online events, we decided to offer digital content as a new way to promote Tokyo to the conference delegates.

The 26th Asia and South Pacific Design Automation Conference (ASP-DAC 2021), sponsored by the ASP-DAC Steering Committee, was successfully held online between 18 January to 21 January. ASP-DAC is the largest conference in Asia and South-Pacific regions on Electronic Design Automation (EDA) area for very large-scale integration (VLSI) and systems. However, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the meeting was conducted as a completely online event and attracted 343 registered participants in total.

To offer the opportunity to enjoy the essence of Tokyo for the ASP-DAC 2021 participants who were unable to visit Tokyo this time around, BET prepared a dedicated digital content consisting of tezuma (the Japanese traditional magic designated as the Japanese intangible cultural asset) performance and Kiyosumi gardens, one of Tokyo's attractive sightseeing spot.

In this digital content, Taiju Fujiyama, a tezuma-performer gave an interview about features of tezuma and charms of Tokyo. And his original program 'Mysterious Fox' that the mask on his face changes quickly and vividly, was performed in front of Kiyosumi gardens. Combination of Japanese culture and the traditional unique venue of Tokyo was so attractive.

The video was streamed online during the conference period and earned over 150 views. "Though real performance was preferable, I think the video contributed to appeal attractive Tokyo and Japanese culture." said Kazuyuki Iwaguro, the GC Secretary of ASP-DAC 2021. We sincerely hope that they will visit Tokyo one day and enjoy the "real" city charm.

Business Events Tokyo is willing to seek new content and ways to support online and hybrid conferences.
