Further reopening of borders
Effective October 8 travel restrictions for short-term business as well as long-term purposes with South Korea are lifted. For short-term visitors to Japan the two-week quarantine is not mandatory if they provide proof of a negative coronavirus test and a trip itinerary. Those arriving for long-term stays can enter with a test and two weeks of self-isolation.
Talks concerning relaxing restrictions on business-travel with other countries including China, Australia and New Zealand are ongoing.
