Tokyo's Newest Bid Win of International Congress of Pacific Rim College of Psychiatrists 2025
The Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau (TCVB) is delighted to announce that Tokyo has placed the winning bid to host the International Congress of Pacific Rim College of Psychiatrists (PRCP) in 2025. The Congress is planned to be held in the fast-developing Hamamatsucho-Takeshiba-Shibaura area blessed with a rich natural environment, historical facilities, and easy access.
The deciding factors for Tokyo's winning bid were Japan's long-standing, active contributions to the organization's mission, promised support from related Japanese Associations, and the solid proposal made by the Japan Bid Committee. This resounding success of the PRCP 2025 bid process would never have been possible without the strong leadership and commitment of the Japan Bid Committee, its chairs Dr. Itsuo Asai and Dr. Tsuyoshi Akiyama, and all its members.
A generous subsidy from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) to provide financial and in-kind support for the Congress was also essential in selecting Tokyo. TCVB played a significant role, bringing its considerable experience to support the Japan Bid Committee to prepare its bid proposal and presentation materials. Furthermore, the DMO SHIBA, Tokyo Bay, has assured the Congress organizers to provide full support for hosting PRCP 2025.
PRCP was founded in 1980 and has held its international conference in Japan three times: Tokyo in 2008 and 1986, and Fukuoka in 1995. PRCP 2025, the fourth such gathering in Japan, is expected to attract 700 specialists from over 20 countries. The biennial PRCP Congress provides a forum to present the latest findings in psychiatry. It will be a platform for the leading psychiatrists in clinical, administrative, or academic practice to share the newest research results.
Congress programs will consist of sharing accumulated knowledge and experience of professionals in Japan and from the Pacific Rim area. Sessions will also include the perspective of what education is needed to brighten the future of psychiatric care.
The convening of this Congress in Tokyo - the center of academic activities of numerous research-oriented societies - will significantly impact academia in Japan. The TMG and TCVB will continue to offer support to deliver a successful and unforgettable PRCP Congress in Tokyo.
