Visa-free Travel Returns to Japan with No Daily Arrival Cap from October 11

The government of Japan has announced that effective from 0:00 am (JST) on October 11, it will lift the current daily arrival cap, allow independent tourism, and resume the visa exemption measures for ordinary passport holders of 68 countries/regions.

Regarding new entry of foreign nationals into Japan, based on the New Border Measures announced, currently compulsory applications to the Entrants, Returnees Follow-up Systems (ERFS) will no longer be required from October 11.
For all cross-border travelers, on-arrival tests at the quarantine station, self-quarantine in places such as their residence or other accommodation and refraining from public transportation will no longer be mandatory.

All entrants will be required to provide either a valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate (3 doses) of vaccines on the Emergency Use Listing of the World Health Organization (WHO) or a certificate of a negative pre-departure COVID-19 test result within 72 hours of departing from the original country/region.
