SIGGRAPH Asia is Heading to Tokyo for Its 2024 Conference

The Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau (TCVB) is delighted to announce that Tokyo has secured the winning bid to host the 17th ACM SIGGRAPH Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques in Asia (SIGGRAPH Asia 2024) from December 3 - 6, 2024.

SIGGRAPH Asia started as an offspring convention of SIGGRAPH - an industry and educational event held in North America every year since 1974. Through the years, the event has become the largest and most influential conference and exhibition in computer graphics and interactive techniques in the Asia Pacific region, with thousands of participants gathering each year. The conference has been held four times in Japan: Yokohama in 2009, Kobe in 2015, and Tokyo in 2018 and 2021. SIGGRAPH Asia 2024 is expected to attract numerous participants to the Tokyo International Forum (TIF), the capital's leading conference facility with perfect accessibility and an impressive array of innovative functions.

The excellent organization of past SIGGRAPH Asia Conferences in Tokyo was instrumental in the bid's success. In 2018, the record-breaking results of the conference and exhibition were outstanding across the board, with 9,735 participants from 59 countries and regions worldwide and support from 118 exhibitors and sponsors.

The success was followed by SIGGRAPH Asia 2021, marking the first hybrid edition in ACM SIGGRAPH's history. The event became an outstanding success, given that participation was restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The successful bid by Tokyo was also backed up by a strong team effort by the Japanese Bid Committee, the Business Events Team at TCVB, and local sponsors. The financial and in-kind support from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) also played a significant role in bringing the distinguished SIGGRAPH Asia Conference back to Tokyo for 2024.

The TMG and TCVB will continue to offer support to deliver a successful and unforgettable SIGGRAPH Asia 2024 in Tokyo.

The Association of Computer Machinery's Special Interest Group on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques (ACM SIGGRAPH) sponsors SIGGRAPH Asia. Founded in 1947, ACM is an academic society dedicated to uniting the world's computing educators, researchers, and professionals and providing them with occasions to engage in dialogues, share resources, and address their field's challenges. Since 2008, ACM SIGGRAPH has also convened an annual conference in Asia called SIGGRAPH Asia, which is attended by thousands of computer graphics professionals from all over the world. The Conference rotates around the region every year.
