41st World Veterinary Association Congress Set to Welcome 6,000 Delegates from 70 Countries and Regions to Tokyo in 2026

07 Aug 2024 PRESS RELEASES

Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau (TCVB) is delighted to announce that Tokyo has secured the winning bid for the 41st World Veterinary Association Congress (WVAC 2026). WVAC will be held at the Tokyo International Forum from April 21 to 24 2026 and is expected to attract 6,000 participants from 70 countries and regions for a lively gathering.

WVAC is an annual congress that brings delegates from around the world together to discuss veterinary medicine with the goal of promoting the concept of "one health" to improve the overall health of our societies. This is the second time this prestigious Congress is coming to Japan after it was held in Yokohama in 1995 and the first time it will be held in Tokyo. The 2026 event is organized by the Japan Veterinary Medical Association (JVMA).

The deciding factors in the bid win were a strong bid proposal from JVMA and Japan's strong background in veterinary medicine. Financial and in-kind support from Tokyo Metropolitan Government and TCVB were also instrumental in the selection. TCVB supported JVMA throughout the bid process and will continue to support the event to a successful conclusion.
