The government of Japan extended the ongoing COVID-19 state of emergency to August 31 in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
Dining facilities stopping serving alcohol may remain open until 8 p.m., while restaurants and bars serving alcohol continue to be closed.
Events are restricted to half the venue capacity and up to 5,000 attendees, whichever figure is lower, and must conclude by 9 p.m.
