The Current Situation in Tokyo
Due to the strain on local health care systems, the government of Japan extended the ongoing COVID-19 state of emergency to September 30, with the restriction regarding events remaining unchanged.
The government also announced a pandemic exit strategy to ease restrictions on travel, dining, and public events for vaccinated people. It is to begin on an experimental basis as early as October and become fully operational in November.
