The Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau (TCVB) is delighted to announce that Tokyo has placed the winning bid to host the 22nd World Congress on Dental Traumatology (WCDT) at Hitotsubashi Hall of Hitotsubashi University on July 12 - 15, 2024.

The Congress in 2024 is anticipated to appeal to a wide variety of scientists, general dentists, as well as a range of professionals from dental specialties including Oral Surgery, Endodontics, Paediatric Dentistry and expects to attract over 800 specialists from more than 20 countries. The first WCDT was organized in 1984 and has since been held two times in Japan: Tokyo in 1995 and Nagoya in 2008.

Japanese specialists are very active members of the International Association of Dental Traumatology. Their strong enthusiasm to hold the Congress in Tokyo was the main factor for the bid win. Another decisive factor was the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG)'s in-kind and financial support, an ample amount of which assured organizers that the capital of Japan is the most stable place to hold the Congress. Compared to other candidate cities, organizers also praised the safety of Tokyo as well as the dense transportation network covering the entire city, making convenient access anywhere around the capital. Last but not least significant factor was the charm of the megapolis and coming Olympics that make Tokyo a desirable destination for all congress participants.

The convening of WCDT in Tokyo, the center of academic activities for many research-oriented societies, will　have a significant impact on academia in Japan as well as on professionals from around the world.
TMG and TCVB will continue supporting WCDT to deliver a successful and unforgettable Congress in Tokyo.

Founded in 1984, the International Association of Dental Traumatology is a global association that seeks to unite general dentists, specialists, and other colleagues who are interested in dental traumatology.
The mission is to promote optimal prevention and treatment services in this multidisciplinary area in dentistry. The target groups are dental and medical colleagues, the public and interested parties in education, sports, industry and appropriate governmental agencies.
