Further Enhancement of Tokyo's Special Offers for Corporate Events 2015

Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau is striving to enhance even further its services for organizers and planners of corporate meetings and incentive tours. Following last year's launch, the choice of special offers for corporate events have expanded from April 2015.

1. Tokyo's Special Programs for Corporate Events

These programs are available for planners still in the process of narrowing their choice of destinations for a group of at least 100 visitor nights* in Tokyo. An attractive selection of party entertainment options and programs as well as giveaways is available depending on the group size.

For example, for the group category 400 visitor nights* or more in Tokyo, "Ikebana" Flower Arrangement Performance in party entertainment segment has been newly added. Furthermore, some of the latest options added to programs are: Kabuki Lecture & "Kagamijishi" - The Lion Dance with live musical accompaniment, Sushi Making Experience, "Wagashi" Japanese Sweets Making & Tea Ceremony Experience.

As for the group category 1,000 visitor nights or more in Tokyo*, following performances and events are newly added: Japanese Calligraphy Performance with live Japanese music, Sumo Event - Lecture by Former Professional Sumo Wrestler & Sumo Workshop, etc.

2. Site Visit Support for Corporate Events

Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau is continuously providing special support with Corporate Meetings & Incentive Travel planners and decision-makers still in the process of narrowing their choice of destinations for a group of at least 1,000 visitor nights* in Tokyo.

The support** goes toward air tickets, accommodations and ground transportation for their site visit in Tokyo.

*A visitor night is defined as one attendee staying for one night. For example, 500 attendees spending two nights would be 1,000 visitor nights.
** Support is kept to within the budget per event determined by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

Faster access to/from Haneda Airport

Wonderful news for Tokyo event participants who prefer to travel by taxi or Airport Limousine bus! At the earliest, the traveling time between Haneda Airport and Shinjuku Area has been greatly reduced to 19 minutes.

The Metropolitan Expressway Company Ltd. in the Press Release of April 24 stated that a 40-minute traveling time initially required between Shinjuku area and Haneda Airport during rush hours (around 11 -12 a.m.) is now 19 minutes, shortened by almost half time.

According to the Airport Transport Service Co., Ltd., the initial time has been reduced by 15 minutes in case of Airport Limousine bus transportation between these destinations.

This improvement owes to opening of the Metropolitan Expressway central loop line of Ohashi Junction (Meguro) - Oi Junction (Shinagawa) in March this year. Tokyo is restlessly striving to improve city infrastructure in preparation for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2020.

In accordance with the increase of international flights to/from Haneda Airport, the importance of transportation time shortening to make Haneda an easily accessible airport becomes more and more significant these days.

Hotel Nikko Tokyo to re-brand as Hilton Tokyo Odaiba

Tokyo is the safest city in the world: The Safe Cities Index 2015

In the study designed to assess the safety of 50 cities around the world, undertaken by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), Tokyo named the world's safest city, followed by Singapore, Osaka, Stockholm and Amsterdam.
The Safe Cities Index examines four categories of city safety and security: Tokyo is top in the digital security category, third in personal safety, fifth in infrastructure safety and eighth in health security.

Tokyo registers a noteworthy rise in the ICCA ranking

According to the ICCA Statistics Report 2014, Tokyo with 90 international meetings held during 2014, has moved up from 26th (79 meetings) to 22nd place worldwide. Japan managed to keep 7th place with a total 337 meetings.
