International Continence Society back to Tokyo this Fall More than 2000 specialists from around the world gathered in Tokyo this fall for the International Continence Society (ICS) annual meeting. Dr. Adrian WAGG, General Secretary of the ICS highly evaluated the support of the TCVB and commented on the entire meeting: "For the International Continents Society coming to Tokyo was very exciting opportunity for the 1st time since 1997. Clearly a lot has changed since that time and for our international audience Tokyo presents a very excited destination. What is different this time, I think, it is the setting - we have a marvelous setting for the conference and the city itself. As a result of a survey carried out with the members of International Continents Society about their preferred city to hold the ICS meeting 4 years ago, Tokyo was the most popular city with the high voting by the members. Tokyo, as a destination, presented some unique challenges for a non-Japanese speaking audience, but we have seen how great the hospitality is and extremely friendly reception, very polite people, very clean and well maintained city. As far as the International Continents Society meeting goes, the Tokyo Hospitality team staff have been polite, courteous, welcoming and friendly with continuous smile and abundant assistance. I am sure that given a chance the International Continents Society would certainly come to Tokyo again". |

The capital of Japan attracted meeting planners with great excitement Hosted by Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau, an exciting 4 nights/5days FAM trip was successfully held inviting 10 APAC meeting planners, which allowed them to inspect capital hotels and unique venues while offering the chance to build the fruitful face-to-face network with the local suppliers. One of the highlights of the trip was a 2-hour evening cruise on yakatabune, the traditional Japanese boat equipped with a variety of facilities, exclusively chartered for the group. After having been welcomed on board by two ladies in gorgeous kimonos, the planners enjoyed to the fullest seasonal delicious Japanese cuisines including fresh-from-the-fryer tempura while cruising around the Odaiba area, SKYTREE and other Tokyo main tourist attractions. The dance performance by kimono ladies added a touch of authentic Japanese charm to the whole entertainment program. In Tokyo, many other value-added programs can be organized almost unlimitedly. A private party, for example, may start with the ritual opening of the sake-cask or tuna cutting show followed by sushi making experience, which could amuse participants with an unforgettable memory as a unique event. Yakatabune originated in Tokyo, is one of the best ways to admire the Tokyo night view while enjoying authentic Japanese cuisines. It can be organized regardless of the season and accommodate as many as 120 people. Depending on the preference, either traditional tatami style or table/chair style can be perfectly arranged. |
