Calling all International Associations! BestCities Global Forum 2017: 'Building Global Connections Across Cultures' is now accepting applications

Tokyo will be hosting the second edition of the BestCities Global Forum, from 4 December to 7 December, 2017 at Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo (http://www.hotel-chinzanso-tokyo.com/).

BestCities Global Alliance, a network of 12 leading convention destinations around the world, hosted its first Global Forum in Dubai last December with an impressing result of 100% of delegates surveyed reported the Forum fulfilled their main objectives in attending the event and would recommend it to other international association meeting planners.

The Forum is open to senior association executives considering Business Events that rotate globally, relevant to any of the 12 BestCities Global Alliance partner cities (Berlin, Bogotá, Cape Town, Copenhagen, Dubai, Edinburgh, Houston, Madrid, Melbourne, Singapore, Tokyo and Vancouver).

Tokyo finally won the bid for the 11th SIGGRAPH Asia in 2018

All the people in Tokyo engaged in the industry of computer graphics and interactive techniques were in a rapture of delight with excitement to hear the news that the 11th SIGGRAPH Asia would be finally held in Tokyo.

SIGGRAPH Asia originated from SIGGRAPH. The event has been held in the USA every year since 1974 and currently has become the world's largest and most influential conference/exhibition in terms of computer graphics and interactive techniques with tens of thousands of attendees. Having started in 2008, SIGGRAPH Asia took place in Yokohama and Kobe in 2009 and 2015, respectively. However, with the strong belief that SIGGRAPH Asia in Tokyo would become even greater with the huge contribution from the industry, the bid committee and Tokyo Convention & Visitors Bureau (TCVB) had been working hard through the fierce competition. As the largest hub of the computer graphics and interactive techniques in Japan, Tokyo has many companies, associations, and academic institutions that will be involved deeply for the successful conference. For instance, Square Enix, Polygon Pictures, OLM, IBM, Digital Hollywood Univ., CESA, VFX-JAPAN and Design & Technology Association are among them.

Furthermore, Tokyo International Forum (TIF), the planned venue convinced Professor Yong Tsui Lee, SIGGRAPH Asia Conference Advisory Group Chair, to be the ideal facility for the conference with its perfect accessibility and full of innovative functions. In addition to the above factors, the assured financial and in-kind supports from Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) and TCVB, as well as their help with bid paper preparation and suggestions on the bidding process based on the rich experience, also helped Tokyo to win the bid.

Simple and flexible conference facility featuring state of the art equipment newly opens in Akasaka this October

In October 2017, a conference facility "AKASAKA INTERCITY CONFERENCE CENTER" will open in the Akasaka district. This center, where focus is put on the environment for pleasant "learning", will feature 12 meeting rooms with various sizes suitable for both large and small business events.

545 square meters main hall "the AIR" is built without pillars and with a horizontal ceiling 4.8m-high, and is equipped with simultaneous interpretation booths for 2 languages. Fan-shaped 230 square meters conference room "the Amphitheater", installed with high-visibility video equipment (projector high brightness of 10,600 lm, WUXGA resolution (1920×1200)), permits easy viewing of various kinds of presentations with a conventional screen as well as with a glass screen that allows the projection of video images on two surfaces at once.
The main hall, the large and small conference rooms with a spacious lounge and a dedicated reception area has been designed so that conference can be completely held on one floor.
